EPoS Case Study – Delilah Fine Foods
Profile
Delilah Fine Foods is a retail experience, having outgrown their previous location they not only moved into an old bank site, but this allowed them to offer the additional products and services that they couldn’t before.
Their vision is a totally flexible food and drink experience. This means everything from a takeaway coffee to a longer time spent having a full table service meal.
“We want retail products to be added to each sale including weighed lines such as cheese or olives. The customer can start at the bar, move to a table, and then return to the bar after their meal. “
Problems
Changing premises was to allow us to stock a bigger range of items but also to improve our food service side from a coffee and cake to main meals and table service and a wine bar in the evening.
The size of the operation meant we would have to put in place a management structure , we couldn’t rely on staff alone.
The new shop would include both product sales and food service and we didn’t want to get two separate systems to learn and control.
After opening we needed a system that could take us further as we developed and grew.
Solutions
Although Delilah were using scales before, the way that EPoS handles normal barcoded lines is more flexible with regular accounts discounts and promotions, deliveries and integrated credit cards making service more efficient.
Although Delilah had a large amount of experience with working with table service and order taking handsets at our other restaurants.
The main point was to serve a wholesome menu quickly and efficiently.
The food and drink choices are set up on the Till using touch menus with all the sub options, and you just enter the customers order. It’s really easy.
The new Till layout we worked out with Open Retail as it is far more efficient in serving customers more quickly, and takes the least space and fits in with the overall look of the shop.
We can add shop items to your food bill and vice versa and issue promotions relating to the whole business.
Knowing what is selling well during the day gives you chance to get some more ordered and not run out.
We not only manage what we buy and sell but we also account for what we use in the kitchen as own use transfers via the till.
The deli scales are connected directly to the office system, this means all new products and price changes get processed immediately, they don’t have to stop serving at all.
Quote
“Although we were familiar with selling off scales we did not think this was flexible enough and so decided we needed an EPoS system. Open Retail was chosen as they had the bulk of the functionality already and with it being their own software could offer the additional functions required. We also added stock taking and wastage control.”
